The Epson Stylus SX200 is a multifunctional device that prints and copies without the need to connect to a PC. It prints at up to 34 pages per minute, whilst Epson’s DURABrite Ultra Ink produces high quality documents and lab quality photos up to A4 borderless that are resistant to water, smudging and fading. All of this for an affordable price suit for those on a tightest of budgets. This is how Epson describe the SX200 but the important thing that conveniently forgot to mention is the fact that the Epson SX200 ink cartridges costs almost as much as the printer itself. There are compatible Epson ink cartridges available but the point is if you’re going to offer a printer aimed at people on a budget the genuine Epson printer cartridges should be affordable as well. That being said the SX200 does offer a good range of functions and performs very well at each of them. The print quality is especially good and surpasses expectations of a printer in this price bracket. The scanner is less impressive but is perfectly adequate for basic scanning tasks. The copier function is a excellent feature of the SX200, it very easy to use and is even works without the need for a PC. Something else the SX200 can do without the need for a PC to be present is print directly from a memory card and digital cameras thanks to its built in card reader and PictBridge USB connection. The Stylus SX200 is a great value for money printer in terms of functionality but the pricey genuine inks make it expensive to run.
